There's no place like home...

Hello everyone,

it's a very warm day today, but not too warm. The heat wave is giving us a breather for a short spell.

I'm glad to be home after almost three weeks away on a road trip through the Kootenays and Alberta. Visits to family and long-time friends were really wonderful. It was very good to reconnect with my roots in Calgary. But at the end of every trip I have to click my ruby slippers together: there's no place like home…there's no place like home...

Now that I am home again there is much to do and some news to share.

Summer is HERE!

Hi everyone!

Yesterday was the Moss Street Paint-In. It was a lot of fun! I streamlined my display set up for this year's event so instead of being stressed out I relaxed. I enjoyed talking to all the visitors who came by. I even sold a painting! It was one of my underwater watercolours.

Summer is coming

Hello everyone, happy Saturday!

the new studio

hello everyone

time for another update on my adventures in Langford!

Things are happening in my new art studio! The space is finally functional now that all excess boxes are put away into storage. The light and views of the garden are simply wonderful, made especially exquisite by the brief visits of bejeweled hummingbirds at the feeder. I can make art to the sounds of bird song and rain in the garden!

Adventures in Langford

Hello everyone,

it's been some time since I wrote an update from my art studio. There have been many changes in my life and lots of news to report!

KUNAMOKST Mural unveiled in Vancouver

hi everyone,

The Kunamokst mural project I participated in was unveiled on February 13th in Vancouver. You can now see the whole image online. (link is below) It reminds me of a watercolour quilt or a photo mosaic. Each panel has it's own distinct image but from a distance they all form a large master image. The panel that I painted is #225, on the very bottom, closer to the right side. If you click on my square you can see my painting up close.

Cheers!
Caroline

last minute invitation

hello art lovers,

things are a little crazy at  my house right now! My studio is completely packed into boxes. The room is empty, so empty it echoes! We're moving to Langford at the end of the month. We are really looking forward to enjoying our new home! I think I'm most excited about the yard and all the nature surrounding the place. My new studio will be very nice too. It has a skylight! And two doors that open to the outside! I bet I'll be doing some outdoor projects too, like papermaking, large mural painting, sculpting and carving. Pretty exciting!

Goodbye 2009!

At our house we are looking forward to the year ahead.

A new home.

A fresh start.
Time for growth and opportunity.

Revitalizing our health and spirit.

Reconnecting with friends.

Meeting new neighbours.

Dog walks on Mill Hill.

Summer swims and camping.

Christmas Day

Was the turkey stuffed or am I? Wow, what a dinner! We had a lovely time this afternoon and evening at our friend's house. Cody and Eileen have a gorgeous Christmas tree in their living room, a fireplace with lights and candles, and their newly renovated home is just gorgeous! Our dog Luci played a lot with Stella, their Havanese puppy. We had a great visit with Cody, Eileen and Cody's cousin Jacque. Christmas is so much better when shared with friends! Especially when we can't be with family.

Christmas Eve

It's Christmas Eve in Victoria. The sun has set after a glorious bright day of blue sky and crisp, cool air. When I was on Willows Beach this morning a kayaker in his drysuit was practicing rolls in the skinniest kayak I have ever seen, laying around in the water and flipping all the way around like a lazy seal. A harbour seal was watching him from about ten feet away. Our dog Luci had a wonderful time tearing up and down the beach in her satin red jacket. Mount Baker was a clean bright white, clear and sharp as a bell in the cold air.
